So I am in the process of splitting a getrag 260 and so far I got it to split about a 1/4 inch and now there seems to be something causing it to stick. so far I removed all of the rear bolts that hold the case together, I have taken out the reverse switch, the reverse gear shaft retaining bolt and the selector shaft pin.One bottle contains 1 liter and each bottle comes with a handy filler hose. You need two of these since the oil capacity in a Getrag 260/6 is about 1.25 liter. Of course will other brands fulfilling the Dexron III specification work as well. Another popular gearbox oil for this particular gearbox (Getrag 260/6) is the Castrol Transmax Z.also I have a 84 318i manual which i think is a 3.64 but I am unsure and which one to use for the swap as i did search and most information is for the getrag 260 or E36 tranny. I have seen a few people using the 240 but was wondering if amy are using the stock 84 318i rearend.. thanks
