Here is a walkthrough for the east Velen exploration, featuring Fools Gold and Griffin ArmorI have scoured the forums and google trying to see if anyone else had this issue, but no luck. Basically, I have cleared out Dragonslayer's Grotto. Everything I could find. However, the "Monster Den" icon with the skull next to it, is still white. Even caves that have a quest in them, such as the cave at the Clan Tordaaroch Forge, which has a very clear "main chest," doesn't grey out when "completed." From the secret exit to Dragonslayer’s Grotto head east to return to Downwarren, then use its signpost to return to the Dragonslayer’s Grotto signpost. From here follow a trail leading away (north-west) from Dragonslayer’s Grotto until it broadens into a wider road, which you should continue on as it runs west, then south.

You can probably igni, run forward a bit, then igni the rest. Gourmet helps also, like the other fellow said. There is a high level monster that is in the forest above you.
