First, the compression ratio is lower on the X to make the power more mellow and tractable. Secondly, the exhaust port was slightly raised. The single best mod for most 2 strokes, including the YZ125, is getting the jetting right. You can easily gain torque, horsepower and throttle response in minutes, even if your bike seems to be running well.
