John deere synchro shift pattern.
Hi I am assuming this is a syncro range. The trouble is with the top shaft. When you shift 1-3-rev it all happens with one shifter on the side of the case. When you get inside you will see that this shifter does 2 things. pull the floor board and then the top cover and you will see the parts. NW Ohio,near Findlay. We have 3020, 4020, and 2510 on a loader. The 4020 (65 model) is doing the same as your tractor. If tractor sets a while, damp, seems clutch doesn't totally release. Slow up motor or stop tractor and it will shift.Syncro trans tractors have been very durable if treated properly. Syncro is a syncronized 2 speed with a non sycncronized 4 speed range. The 4 speed range is not to be shifted while the tractor is in motion. A lot of people do and this eventially will cause trouble.To determine which rod to adjust, place the lever in 1st or 3rd and watch to see which rod moved when you shift it into either gear.Try this with all 4 shift stations. You may have to readjust a bit to average the adjustment out among the 4 shift stations.Those old tractors have to be jiggled a lot.lol.
