A good (journeyman) Pump action shotgun is enough. Grapples is a must min 30pcs. Xtra set of good flak and some xtra gauntlets and you would be fine. A launcher can shoot around 12-14 shots bring 3 and 3x14 rockets. Carefull not to get encumbered when looting the golem you will loose grip and then fall to the lava. If you want to kill a golem, aim for anything you want, but not the head : it will take less damage, but its torpor will rise. The Lava Elemental cannot be tamed. This is why aiming for its head will be a waste of time. Please keep in mind that i am saying that assuming it just differs from Rock Elementals by being untameable.Basically if you can all grapple to the ceiling, and relieve yourself number 1 onto it, it will kill it. Then you have 2 artifacts in separate cave dungeons. One is in the jungle dungeon; it's possible to get the artifact without fighting the Lava Golem, but the second artifact is in the Iceworm Queen dungeon. There is a point where flyer tames are not allowed, so you'll have to leave your flyer behind at that point.
