The plane crash is a uniquely good early loot spot for clothes. The best birch and coal spawns. Two 6-burner-stoves. Decent amount of cattails. HRV is a bitch to learn. Once you've explored the map (and learned the cheeses), the map feels fair and rewarding. Loot is far superior than airfield and feels guaranteed.

Soooo, as those who have visited the Forsaken Airfield will know, insomnia risk can only be mitigated by going to an "underground" location (or leaving the region, lul). I really want to make it work and survive here for a few weeks. But...it is so empty. Mindful cabin has next to no wild life near it. The cabin on the island isnt bad, but lack of close coal is a big issue. Forsaken Airfield Map Locations The cave pass through to the cove is an easy no-wolf entry/exit. No workbench but a straight shot to the airfield without a huge predator threat. Forge at airfield basement too, which is great, as most forge maps are not great sustained base maps. Maybe they’ll plop a mountain lion in that cave in a future update, which would change the equation!
