Getrag 260 detent springs. 10-09-2008, 10:35 PM. Tranny fluid was leaking out the cap that covers the detent springs top left rear of transmission. So, when I took off the cap there were three springs in three separate recessed holes. The cap was holding them down against 3 little balls. So I am in the process of splitting a getrag 260 and so far I got it to split about a 1/4 inch and now there seems to be something causing it to stick. so far I removed all of the rear bolts that hold the case together, I have taken out the reverse switch, the reverse gear shaft retaining bolt and the selector shaft pin.
