For melee on horseback, you want either a couchable lance or swing polearm like a glaive. Swinging is much better for overall damage output but some people just like the satisfaction of hitting with a couched lance. Custom weapons with specific parts will let you do both. 2H weapons can work on horseback but you need them to be very long.

Haven't used the Long Glaive yet but I think I'll like it for the flexibility of using as a lance one handed with a shield in the other.
