However, after installing it on the Steam Deck it’s honestly the most fun I’ve ever had with an MMO. It’s not verified to run on the deck and I’m assuming that’s because of the 3rd party launcher.

So you take all the reshade files in your pc FFXIV game folder (as well as the shaders and presets folder) and copy them over to your Steam Deck (the video mentions the location). BUT!!!! The one extra thing you need to download and add to that steam deck folder is d3dcompiler_47.dll - - there's a download link in that same youtube video.

If you don't have XIV through Steam, that's another thing to consider. There is a method for getting non-Steam FFXIV to run on a Deck, but it can be a bit janky. A Windows-based handheld would likely not have that issue. On the other hand, the track pads on the Deck make all kinds of cool control options possible.
