Long story short, you CAN junk the pod and continue using your own router and equipment. Fidium uses PPPoE authentication. Call tech support and get request your credentials. Use a router that supports PPPoE (ubiquiti’s edge routers do) and create a new interface as your WAN using your credentials. Plug your router into the 10GE port on the ONT.

I started using Fidium about 6 months ago. The modem they provide is awful so be prepared to use a router for WiFi. I tried using their modem for WiFi and it kept slowing down to a crawl 3-4 times per day until I rebooted it each time. Other than that no complaints so far.

My NOM is the DZS ZNID-GPON-2424A1-NA which appears to only have 1Gbps connections and the Ethernet cable from there comes to the Adtran Router which has a WAN at 2.5Gbps. This is where it is connected. The rest of the connections on the Adtran Router for the LAN are 1Gbps. I've ordered my own equipment that should be here …
