The Drake has high armor and no shields. I was able to kill it with a 20k fleet of corvettes and plasma cruisers only. Just have enough corvettes to use as cannon fodder and the cruisers will nuke the drake easily. Generally 30-35k is enough, but if you want to stay on the safe side 50k is definitely more than enough. I just went at Shard with a 15k starbase and 25k fleets and did 200k in armor damage but didn't even touch the hull. On the other, hand, with regenerative hull tissue my fairly puny starbases can regenerate fast enough they can basically indefinitely delay and sometimes even slowly beat pirate and marauder fleets. I wouldn’t be surprised if the natural regen of the dreadnought could keep up with all the damage from your corvettes. Next time try bigger ships with more L-slots. A 60k fleet of battleships and titan should be able to kill it relatively safely. EDIT: Apparently a 60k fleet won’t be strong enough, maybe a 100k fleet is safer.
