Now, onto 3.9. The new system is a MASSIVE improvement but has some drawbacks imo. Overall I think it's a large improvement. Making habitats 1 per system but making them expandable planets is both fun to play with but also MUCH easier for QOL. Management is also easier.

Habitats are simple to manage because you can mostly just fire and forget with them. Trade habitat, just dump it in your system and one habitation, 3 trade. Done. Then it just sits there, generating population and sending them back to your colonies if you have networked migration active once it fills up. Go either energy or minerals for the other two, and keep several alloy plants running. It's a bit of a rocky start, but once the ball gets rolling, it just dominates the early to mid game. 3 habitats right off the bat means 3x pop growth vs a single planet start. It's easily one of my favorite non-modded origins.

All multi-stage Megastructures can only be built once per Empire, except for the Ring World. Ring Worlds are basically artificial planets on a much bigger scale than Habitats. It costs influence but helps out to start. Make your the bigger of the two habitable worlds your industrial world. Manage your mineral income as needed to build that and maintain it. Once you have a decent research capital and forge world, swap to militarized economy and put the normal funding back on the quest.

When I play regular empires, questions like this don't usually arise, but void dwellers are an entirely another story.
