So basically tome of fire is infinite fire runes for any nonfire type spell that still uses fire runes and won't use charges. Charges only get used if tome of fire increases the damage, so only on "fire" spells. Ibans blast is best example. Tome of fire won't increase the damage so it won't use charges but you still get infinite fire runes

Iban's is slightly better and also slightly cheaper if you use a tome of fire. The tome will supply fire runes without using charges. Don't listen to the other guy saying to get a trident at 75 magic, it's a common mistake. Fire wave with a ToF beats tridents until around 87 magic, then the toxic trident pulls ahead in dps.
