Anyone know this block GM 41 3970010. I know its a 350, (I believe), has a drivers side dipstick and a "8" for its build year. I would think 1978 cause the small pad in the front of the engine is the smaller square shape not the longer more narrow older style pad for 1968. The pad is smooth so theres no engine codes. Is there any way to know if its a 302, 327 or 350 or did they all use the same crank and rods. Its deck has been milled so no numbers to get on right front side.

Casey, One: the 3970010 is a medium journal main diameter block, the 1967 and earlier small blocks were small journal. Your hopes of it being a 65 Vette motor are for naught. 3970010 could NOT possibly have been in a production era that was small journal only.
