If a killer is good he can actually use the increased drifting caused by boil over to gain distance by turning sideways. The hook aura thing is "neat" but doesn't save your very often except maybe on indoor maps. 3.
Boil Over is a fairly useless perk. I think it's meant to partially counter Iron Grasp, but it doesn't do that very well. It would be a much better perk if it affected wiggle speed, but the problem is that would be very difficult to balance because you'd have to take into account how it would work both alone and in a stack with perks like Flip Flop or Breakout.Step 1: play normally until you down somebody. Step 2: if they have Boil Over, you will see it in the bottom right as a debuff icon, as a red square by your perks. Boil over isn't useless, it is an okay perk, it is horrible to navigate through with it when being indoors or in cramped areas, it is quite useless in open fields though. It got nerfed a few times appropriately but seemed like it was still a fine perk, at least when I was dealing with it as Killer. But the recent changes to how the Wiggle System work as of the last patch Boil Over doesn't seem like it does anything honestly. What they did the entire game was just go up and upstairs during chase, and sit there. If I tried hooking them, I would never have enough time to get to hook.
