Click to expand... I have a 2008 Malibu LTZ which had the same problem with the HVAC knob not working. I did what you suggested 1. Turned off the Key/removed, 2. Disconnected the ground wire from the battery for a minute or so, 3. Reconnected the battery, and all is working fine.
The "dual battery control module" keeps going out. There has to be more to this. Is this a problem with my 2014 Malibu, I took mine to dealer, they ran diagnostics and said battery cables were loose and cleared me. Next day check iengine light came back on with same problem. If it determines that a battery is at the proper level, it'll stop the charging. This is how computer-controlled alternators are used to help get better mileage.
I moved your discussion to the gen8 section and added Limited to the title. I am guessing the battery is leaking from the positive terminal as that is where the fuse block and dual battery control module sits. That's some bad luck - it is rare for an AGM battery to start leaking.
