At 4mi look for the lookout to the right of the trail. It has great views of the valley. Continue up to Little Schaefer lake or pond. A cute quiet green pond. Another 0.25 mi further and you come to Schaefer Lake. A beautiful quiet, large lake with a ridge line of Larches slowly starting to turn to their gorgeous yellow color.

Aug 15, 2021 · Looking for something near the sea with cooler, cleaner air I found this hike on the WTA hike finder map and off we went. We arrived just after 9:30 with the marine layer (making a change from smoke), still obscuring views to a lot surprisingly nearly full. If you read the directions they are now out of date. Hiking Rattlesnake Ledge. This is a fine hike on a well maintained, albeit busy trail through the forest with views of the Cedar River watershed, Mount Si, Mount Washington, Rattlesnake Lake and Chester Morse Lake. As soon as you arrive in the parking lot you have a view of Rattlesnake Ledge's sheer rock face across Rattlesnake Lake.A classic Mount St. Helens hike, leaving from the Johnston Ridge Observatory.
